My research is focused on modifying immune cells, specifically T cells, to recognize and kill cancer more effectively. Solid tumors like ovarian and pancreatic cancer present additional obstacles, so my group identifies those obstacles and comes up with creative engineering approaches to overcome them and translate that into a therapeutics for the clinic.—Kristin Anderson, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology
